A CENTURY FOR DAN AT KINGSBURY
Dan Ash on his 100th with his harem of Badgers
In his debut season for the Badgers, rising up-and-coming star Dan Ash celebrated his 100th career parkrun at Kingsbury, running 30:39. The 17-year-old, who recently made his long-awaited league debut, running superbly at the Swithland 6, is one to watch for the future as the club continues to go from strength to strength. He was cheered on by plenty of other Badgers who ran, including Sam Starkey, who finished 9th with a stunning time of 20:25, only 3 minutes off his all-time best. Dan's brother Tom is also an up and coming star, and he was also in action at Kingsbury, setting a new PB of 25:39. Eleven more Badgers were in action including Martin Graham who ran solidly in 25:42. He was followed closely by a trio of Badgers including stalwarts David Craig and Dave Jenkinson who both ran 26:04. Adrian Payne who is nearing to 150 Parkruns was two clicks behind in 26:06. Chris Young ran well in 28:31 & not far behind was first lady back, as Megan Church finished in 28:49, only a minute off her all time best. Rachael Browne continues her fabulous comeback as she ran 30:40, followed up by Jill Miller, who is on the upward curve, she also ran 30:40. Paul Restall came in closely in 30:45. David Ash looked on as a proud father of his two sons, as he clocked 32:23, and last but not least was Ivana Babicova who finished in 41:29.
There were plenty more Badgers in Parkrun action over the weekend, starting in Queens Park in Glasgow, where ladies' captain Megan Griffiths was in action running 24:09. Griffiths has been dominant in the Leicestershire league for the club so far in 2026, and she ran strongly here to take a top 30 position and place third lady back home. Men's club captain Glyn Broadhurst was also in action, and he was a only a second behind Griffiths in 24:10. Sara Wilson also made the trip up north, and came back with 31:34. Chris Horton Continues to inspire and impress everyone in the club and he was in action over at Babbs Mill, coming in second place in 18:07 . Horton has been in fine form in 2026, with a number of top performances.
Colin Lees & Chris Tweed also featured at Babbs Mill, running 25:44 and 25:46 respectively to come in the top 40. It was a double header for Carl Ford this weekend, firstly he ran at Coventry Parkrun and achieved a course best to run 28:03, his fastest at the distance this year, before venturing off to Redditch 10k where he ran 57:58, another Course Best.
Elsewhere in the Gate Gallop 10k, that incorporates part of the BDSL, we had four Badgers in action, firstly it was Chris Horton's second race of the weekend, representing Tamworth as second claim this time around, but nonetheless as he always does for the Badgers, contributed to a fine team win for them on the day with another podium finish in 3rd to run 35:54. The ever present and popular Adrian Payne was also in action and ran a solid 41:23, and the tenacious David Craig was back in a solid 52:12.
