Parking

Please allow 10 - 15 minute walk to the start/finish area from the car parking areas.

Minimum 3 per car, where possible. 

Car Parking at Castle Rock Drive MAIN ENTRANCE on Meadow Lane WILL be reduced this year due to construction work at the school. The ‘island’ entrance off the Copt Oak Road (Previously Kind Edward VII College/now Forest Way School) still an option for at least 50 cars, but please do make good use of the Quarry and Forest Rock Offices parking if required; and we may need to also fill the single file parking bays down Meadow Lane without blocking residents' drives IF everything full. Thereafter, several roads also border the woods/course with direct footpaths leading from Abbots Oak Dr, Rosslyn Rd, Holly Hayes Rd, St. Bernard’s Rd, and Leicester Rd. Not an official endorsement…. just telling you what these roads are called. If you park on these or Rosemary Cres, Peterfield Rd, Tressell Rd, then please do NOT block drives or cause inconvenience to residents. DO NOT PARK on Hayes Close

Facilities

Tent Area on Hilary Crescent next to swings, and just a 5-minute walk from the Pub/Results.

Please only drop tents off here and DO NOT PARK – the Paramedics will park up here.

Course details

Course details/footwear: 80 metres of tarmac per lap (Adults); some gravelled paths; mainly grass, mud, woodland trails = TREE ROOTS/TRUNKS, VOLCANIC ROCKS (not active). 1 brook crossing for adults.

Approximately 5 miles. 1 small clockwise loop just under 1M; 1 medium anticlockwise loop 1.75M; 1 large anticlockwise loop 2.45M.

Junior: Under 10’s 1 lap woodland trail (approx. 0.9 mile), Under 16’s 2 laps.

Please note the following:

• The course will be marshalled/pegged/posted – please keep to this

• This is public woodland/grassland – please be courteous to the general public

• Please take all litter home with you (course and car parks)

These races are CLOSED events, ie only members of affiliated clubs can take part. If you are a member of a club not in the Derby Runner Cross Country League, you can join one that is as a second claimer. Occasionally, at the rare and sole discretion of Dave Mann, guest runners may be allowed – any guest runner will not score points for a team.
