POWER COUPLE SWOOP TO VICTORY
Men's and ladies' captains Glyn Broadhurst and Megan Griffiths both ended up in Milton Keynes
In a week of snow, ice and cancellations, there was very little action from the running community in general, never mind Badgers. However, men's and ladies' captains Glyn Broadhurst and Megan Griffiths both ended up in Milton Keynes and found a parkrun that had not been cancelled, in the shape of Bury Field. Better still, they finished first male and first female in times of 19:56 and 23:20 respectively, beating off all 118 other hardy souls braving the elements on a bright but freezing morning.
Other couples in action included Adrian and Judy Parkes at Battlestead Croft near Burton, the duo getting around safely in midfield. Parkrun afficionados Andy and Holly Smith chalked up an appearance apiece at Houghton Hall, and Peter Mann and Fiona Reidy managed a trot out at Sixfields, Northampton. David Grant and Yvonne Faulkner Grant were at Ely, where Yvonne managed to make the top ten. Matt Green and Janey Barrett got their fix at Fulham Palace in 27:20, and Jim Cottom and Rachael Browne managed an appearance at Daventry, accompanied by Sharon Jackson and Sam Starkey (not a couple!)
In other events, yes, there were some, Mia Cox finished a fine 32nd in the cross country at the Pingles in Nuneaton out of nearly 100 girls. Last but by no means least, Danny Warren took 5th in the snowy Moonriver Night Fell Race to leave him joint 2nd in the overall series with just one race to go.
That’s it!
